Fire, Corydon, Indiana, October 1948, N. Capitol Avenue

Description: Fire continues to smolder at the corner of North Capitol Avenue and Walnut Streets in Corydon, Indiana following a large fire that destroyed three area businesses - Websters Restaurant, Donahues Restaurant, and the offices of Sunshine Hatchery. The view in this photograph is to the east from North Capitol Avenue and demonstrates the proximity of nearby houses to the buildings where the fire began. Local fire fighters were joined by additional crews in the region to help fight the blaze.
