1942, flood of Harrison County Fairgrounds, Corydon, Indiana

Description: A large part of the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Corydon, Indiana was inundated in April 1942 after three days of steady rain. Several saddle horses and race horses in their stalls at the fairgrounds were surrounded by the water and their owners had to pull them out. Several bales of alfalfa hay were lost. View in the photo is from Poplar street looking across the fairgrounds. The boat in the foreground is that used by the Town Marshal and other Corydon officials. Several houses along West Poplar Street were also surrounded by the high water.
