L.N.A.&C. Engine No. 3

Description: Engine No. 3 of the Louisville, New Albany & Corydon Railroad pictured with railroad personnel. From left are: George W. Briffett, Tilgham Til Harrison (on hopper), St. John Boyle (in cab), John Frederick (in white by engine), and McKinley and George Crawford (in front of cow catcher). St. John Boyle led the development of the railroad company with stock being sold in 1881, and its first run began in 1883. John Frederick was an engineer on the line. The LNA&C was later owned and managed by Charles Buchanan from ca. 1907 until his death in 1941. His son, William Buchanan, then became president and ran the railroad until 1972, when it was purchased by the Evans Products Company.
