A complaint is filed March 1815. William Morrison by John Johnson his attorney complains of Luke Decker in custody on a plea of trespass. The complaint states that in 1813 Luke Decker became indebted to William Morrison for $200. William Morrison states he has requested payment several times which Luke Decker promised to pay but has failed to do so. Morrison asks for $200 in damages plus the debt. The U. S. commands the Sheriff of Knox County to take Luke Decker to your bailiwick and keep him safe and bring him to court the last day of term to answer unto William Morrison on a plea of trespass. The summons is signed March 9, 1815 and witnessed by R. Buntin, Clerk. The summons is executed by James Jordan, Deputy Sheriff. Service and return is listed at $.59 with 8 miles listed as mileage of $.48 for a total of $1.07 due. The complaint is signed by John Johnson, attorney for the plaintiff. A plea and issue is filed by G. W. Johnston attorney for Luke Decker. Johnston his attorney comes and defends the wrong and injury when and says that Decker did not undertake and assume upon himself in manner and form as William Morrison stated and puts himself on the country. The said William Morrison does the same. A summons is issued to the plaintiff William McIntosh, who is to appear before the judges of the Circuit Court the 1st Monday of June next. He is to give evidence on behalf of William Morrison, plaintiff against Luke Decker, defendant on a plea of trespass. A $100 penalty will be applied for failure to appear. The summons is signed by R. Buntin, as witness on May 17, 1815. The summons is executed by B. V. Beckes, Sheriff. A subpoena to the Sheriff of Knox County is issued. He is to bring William McIntosh to court the first Monday of October to give evidence on behalf of William Morrison, plaintiff against Luke Decker, defendant on a plea of trespass. A $100 fee will be applied for failure to appear. The Subpoena is dated June 19, 1815 and witnessed by R. Buntin, Clerk. The subpoena was executed by B. V Beckes, Sheriff with service and return being $.42 1/2. An appeal in a case agreement was filed by Jonathan Johnson and G. W. Johnston P. Q. In the appeal J. R. McCall, Esquire, states if court should be of the opinion that Decker should be considered responsible for the account for furnishing items to his messmates then the judgment for the plaintiff should be $117. However if he is found in judgment of his part only then he should pay $34.50 only. A cost of court bill was filed for March 9, 1815 through October 1815 term in the amount of $14.48. The court having heard the statement made by J. B. McCall the court decided that the plaintiff recover of the defendant the sum of $117 with costs and charges by him about his suit.
