The file contains documents related to the suit John Reed, the administrator of Benjamin Reeds estate, brought against Samuel Bradley for failure to pay a debt. In an affidavit sworn before Elihu Stout, a Justice of the Peace, John Reed swore that Samuel Bradley was indebted to the estate of Benjamin Reed for the sum of $47.00. On October 9, 1810 a Summons was issued for Samuel Bradley to appear before the judges in the Court of Common Pleas the last Monday in November 1810 to answer to John Reed Jr. the administrator of Benjamin Reed Reed, deceased, in a plea of trespass and damages of $120.00. The Summons was issued by R. Buntin, Clerk CPKC. On the verso side of the Summons; Bail is required, tax not paid. It was executed by John McCandless, D. Sheriff. I am directed by John Johnson the attorney for the Plaintiff, writ Dismissed. Court fees of $1.01 were added for serving the Summons. J. W. Reed, Sen, posted himself as security in this suit. According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas 1807 - 1810 page 267, the Plaintiff appeared by his attorney and the suit was dismissed during the November Term 1810. |
