The file contains the documentation of John Wilchers suit to have a conveyance of the land he purchased from Absolem Reel into his name. Absolem Reel died before the deed could be transferred. During the March Term 1851, John Wilcher petitioned the Probate Court through his attorney, Cyrus M. Allen, to have the land he purchased from Absalom Reel on February 22, 1849 conveyed to his name. Reel died before the land could be registered in John Wilchers name. The sum of $192 was paid for the tract of land in Knox County, 132 acres part of Donation Land # 228. Included in the file is the bill of complaint by John Wilcher and the signed statement of Absalom Reel for the purchase of the land. A summons was issued by W. R. McCord, Clerk, for Samuel Alexander, administrator of the Absalon Reel estate, and for the heirs: Alfred, Ephriam, Mary, James, Abram, Sarah and Milton Reel to appear in Probate Court. The summons was executed by Scott with $4.77 fees attached. W. R. McCord was appointed as guardian ad. litem for the minor children and his report regarding the complaint was made to the court. The Court decreed that Wilcher had the right to the land and appointed Cyrus M. Allen as a commissioner to execute and deliver the deed to John Wilcher. |
