The file contains the administrators of Christian Graeters estate suit against Barzel A. Spalding. Included is Spaldings school account for the sons of Graeter and Spaldings accounts with Graeter for items purchased. Emison and Holland brought suit against Barzel Spalding as a trespass complaint for thirty-eight dollars and eighteen and 3/4 cents. The case was sent to the Probate Court on February 14, 1833 by General Washington Johnston at a cost of twenty-five cents. On May 14, 1833, B.A. Spalding asked to have Fredrick Graeter, James Armstrong, and William Lowens subpoenaed. They were issued a subpoena that was witnessed by A. D. Scott, Clerk, and written by Wm. R. McCord, Deputy Clerk. Spalding presented an account of schooling costs on February 8, 1833 for : Samuel Graeter, of twenty-three dollars and thirty-one and 1/4 cents for nine and 1/3 quarters and for Jonathan Graeter of twenty-six dollars and six and 1/4 cents for eight quarters; and for Fredrick Graeter two dollars and fifty cents for one half quarter. Additionally, one English Grammar book at thirty-seven and 1/2 cents and three winters of fire wood were listed. Total bill was fifty-five dollars and seventy-five cents. Bazler Spaldings Account on Christian Graeter 1830-1833: listed some of the following items: basket $ .18 3/4, box of wafers $.12 1/2, cash $11.00, six pounds sperm candles $3.00, one bottle snuff $.50, silk pocket handkerchief $1.25, one loaf sugar $1.00, etc. The total bill was thirty-eight dollars and eighteen and 3/4 cents. |
