Dunlap James vs Stephen Stricker Estate

Description: James Dunlap and Swallows Dunlap, operating under the firm James Dunlap & Co. of Philadelphia, Pa., ask by their lawyer that Joshua Mitchell, Justice of the Peace take depositions of William Magill and Thomas Minshell, James Reading and others. Their depositions are to be used in proof of their account against the firm Stricker & Maxwell, composed of Amos Maxwell and the said Stephen Stricker, deceased. The date of these accounts are from May 20, 1835 to July 15, 1839. Dated Vincennes, March 10, 1842 by Attorney A. T. Ellis. A notation on back states that H. P. Brockaw is the administrator of the Striker estate. H. P. Brockaw signed the receipt May 11, 1842. The testimony is taken of Wiliam Magill, who is a resident of Philadelphia, Pa., and he swears the enclosed account copy is correct and that it is from the books of James Dunlap and Co. and the items were sold to the firm of Stricker & Maxwell. Signed, March 28, 1842. James Reading of Hunterdam, N. J. swears to James Mitchell that the account of Stricker & Maxwell is a true account. Maxwell acknowledged said account and it was sworn March 28, 1842 before Joshua Mitchell, Justice of the Peace. A list of the unpaid account is included with this case and as of May 23, 1840 they amount to $1529.24.
