Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Jacob Steinmehl, dated September 22, 1879. Jacob first enlisted in July (day omitted) 1863 as Private in Company G 67th Regiment of the Indiana Legion and was discharged as Orderly S in August (day omitted) 1863. Jacob re-enlisted on May 5, 1864 as 1st Lieutenant in Company J 133rd Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was discharged on September 5, 1864. Jacobs application was recommended by C. Krietenstein. Examining Committee members, Applicant Elected, Mustered, Number on Des. Book, Adjutant, and Post Commander information omitted. NOTE: On Back of application states Company G 67th Regiment of the Indiana Legion. The Library of Congress does not have a 67th Regiment listed as an Authorized Heading or Reference.
