Description: |
This is an oral history interview with Karen Stutler conducted on March 31, 2025 at the Parke County Public Library. Karen tells the story of growing up in southern Parke County near the small towns of Jessup, Catlin and Rosedale (Raccoon and Florida Townships). She recalls the time she was collecting newspapers for a school project and became lost in the town of Rosedale. She describes chores expected of she and her siblings on the family farm. Her father, Earl Stalker, was an auctioneer. Her mother and siblings all worked along side him during auctions. This was the beginning of Karens love of all things old. She speaks fondly of her aunt and uncle Ruth and Paul Hawkins and spending many hours with them as a young girl. |
