This is a color photograph of the Isaac J. Silliman house on Lot 54 on west High Street in Rockville, Parke County, Indiana. A two-story wooden frame house built in the Greek Revival/ Italianate style, it has additions such as a porch and decking. Silliman bought the property from George Steele for $500.00 on 18 April 1866. Born in Fairfield, CT., Isaac Jarvis (1800-1868) was the son of Jonathan and Lydia Jarvis Silliman. He married Tabitha (1813-1871) the daughter of John N. and Mary Hamilton Stockwell on 3 February 1830. Silliman acted as Parke County sheriff from 1825-1827 and served on the first town board after Rockville was incorporated in 1854. He operated the first flouring mill in Rockville c 1853 having run mills in Bridgeton and Armiesburg in partnerships with men such as General Patterson, O.J. Innis , J. M. Nichols and Persius Harris.
