Parke County Jail after the fire, 1977.

Description: This is black and white photograph of the fire damage done to the Parke County Jail in Rockville, Indiana the summer of 1977. The fire, set by an inmate, destroyed the back upstairs interior and gutted the north part. The brick Italianate style structure was restored and renovated and reopened in 1979. It served the county until a new jail was built west of Rockville. Seen seated to the right on the steps to the porch is Sheriff Gary Cooper. This item was donated by Charles Davis.
