On Oct, 23, 1806 James Johnson comes before Robert Buntin, Clerk of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas with a Negro woman named Judy age 30 and also with her son Nero age 4. They have been brought to this territory from Kentucky. Judy is to serve James Johnson and his assignees a term of eighteen years. They are to be provided with proper clothing, food and lodging. At the end of her service Judy is not to become a county charge. |
