Itwas at this meeting that the Board awardedcontracts for the construction of the new Vocational Education Building. The contracts asawarded amount to about $85,000. This includes only the construction of the buildingand not the equipment and other incidentalswhich will probably bring the total to about$110,000.The general contract was awarded to theBedford Stone and Construction Company ofIndianapolis. It is expected that work willbegin immediately and that the building willbe pushed rapidly to completion in order thatit will be equipped and ready for occupancy bythe opening of the school year in 1915.An announcement like this ought to spreadjoy to the hearts of every student in school. Doyou not think so?THE LECTURE COURSE.It is safe to say, that in the judgment of allthose who are attending the lectures of Dr.Edward Howard Griggs, the course is an unqualified success. It is just as much to thepoint to say that those who are neglecting thissplendid opportunity for education in its truestsense are not alive to the means by which thisis to be secured. It is time that we arouse ourselves to the fact that the very best part of aneducation is derived not from the curriculum, but from contact with our really great teachers, men who are what we desire to be. When aninspiring teacher comes to us to give us thebest of his life-long study and self-culture, theopportunity is not to be despised.Such a teacher is Mr. Griggs. The nature ofhis work has been better explained to you thanwe can hope to do it. Come and get the trueconception of education and life as shown byMr. Griggs to revolve upon the four greatpivots of love, work, culture, and religion. The time-honored, hoary excuse, having notime, is so flat and insipid it nauseates one evento mention it. We have still to see the studentwho will omit a party, dance, or movie feature on that plea. Be honest with yourself, and if you love yourself, treat yourself to a lecture on Monday evening. All we ask of you isto come once, and if that is not sufficient tomake you regular in attendance we are neitherprophets nor the sons of prophets.Have you ever taken time to notice a certainclass of people in attendance at this school, whoseemingly take a pride in never knowing anything about the different school activities, the
