S. N.? Or if analumnus, are you thankful for the opportunities in life that this school has fitted you tograsp? We are tempted to write a poem, entitled Breathes there a student with soul sodead, but our inability to rhyme restrains usfrom the task. The fact remains that we havemuch in our school life to be thankful for, andlet us not forget to place the honor where it isdue. The editors wish to thank those who havehelped us by means of contributions. We havealso received many timely suggestions, andpractical helps tow7ard making the paper moreexpressive of the school. One good turn deserves another. Keep it up. Some of thesecontributions we have been unable to use in thepresent issue, but we shall keep them for futurereference. We thank you just the same.Theres a breath—or shall we say, a fragrance—of woman suffrage floating throughour halls! Better watch for the Decemberissue ! Something may happen, yet.It begins to look as if Bulgaria would haveTurkey for Thanksgiving. We do not enyyher taste.Well, another election has passed, and, asProf. Bogardus said, The country has beensaved (?) once more. On page 37 will be founda ballad written by one of our students whoevidently has views of her own about it.Read it.The building east of the Science building hasnow been removed, and the space will soon beconverted into a play ground for the childrenof the Training School. This brings to ourmind a suggestion which is surely of value if itcan be carried out. Why not enlarge our buildings with large, well-equipped gymnasia uponthis ground, and use the present gymnasia asswimming pools? We need this improvementsurely as much as any other, and it will comesometime. Lets all boost for it. We need itnow.By some oversight the name of the authorof An Old Advertisement, printed in ourOctober number, was omitted. The article waswritten by Mr. Waldo F. Mitchell, 10, CollegeCourse 12, who is doing advanced work inthe University of Wisconsin this year. |
