162THE XORMAL ADVANCECollege Course anb Clas&es COLLEGE COURSE. I VHE work of the College Course during■*■ the past month has jumped cheerfully7along its usual road of bumps and obstacles, and is at the present writing maintaining itsusual high standard. Owing to the rush ofthis school paper in trying to catch up with itsdates of publication, there has been no meeting held that is to be written up.But class meetings are not the only thing tobe considered as the exclusive subjects for classwrite-ups, not by any means. Take the individual class members for instance. A very fewof them would make enough material to fill theAvhole Advance. After being pursued for about two days, through his strenuous duties as student at I. S.X., newspaper reporter, College Course treasurer, and a few others, Mr. Thomas Johnsonwas cornered in a stack of pending work andpapers, and using an empty receipt book as alever, the following statement was pried fromhim:At present there is no immediate danger ofthe United States government instigating aninvestigation of the College Course of the Indiana State Xormal School, charging said College Course with cornering the money market.AVe are sure that this statement from ourworthy treasurer will relieve the minds ofmany. We also trust that the true worth ofthis statement will sink deep into the hearts ofall concerned, and that all who should, will actaccordingly. (Before the spring term.)Space will permit for but one other memberto be considered. Even he would not be considered if it were not that he is a martyr. Onthe return trip of the basket ball team from itstrip to Charleston, St. Louis and Lebanon, itwas discovered that Wilson, a Senior, had contracted an excellent case of mumps. Upon arrival in Terre Haute on that cold, gray Sundaymorning, a high wind was blowing. This wasa good excuse, so Mr. Wendell W. Wright allowed his ears to become ungovernable andas a result of their frolicking in the high windhe was repeatedly blown into Wilson. It onlytook AVhack four days to cultivate a case ofmumps which for swelling and expandingpowers would make even a balloon envious. This case only goes to show what a CollegeCourse student will do to keep up the standardof his class. Good boy, AVhack! But the one fact that makes the CollegeCourse happier at present than anything else,is that it still holds the lead in athletics. Theinter-class games between the boys are doneand have become history, but the girls interclass games are now at the height of theirglory7. The team which represents our class isas follows:Inez Kelley, F Clara Goldman, F DorothyRoberts, C Florence Fellows, G Esther Xeu-kom, G.On Wednesday, February 26, at 3 :30 P. M.,the College Course won over the Juniors by ascore of 20 to 8. On March 5, one week later, they repeated the trick with the Seniors, thescore being 13 to 8. Really, after taking acasual glance at these scores it would seem thatthe college girls are repeating the stunt of theboys with the exception that they are doing itbetter. At the time of going to press there remains one game, that with the Sophomores.Of course this will have the same result as theothers, that is, we hope it will.Xo, no one need ever try to put or slip anything over on the College Course. Were readyfor anything from basket ball to mumps.SENIOR.The Senior class has not been very active thisterm. Owing to the basket ball games and a |
