THE NORMAL ADVANCE107College Course anfc Clas&e*!8?THE JUNIORS.AND the Juniors are to be rememberedonce more. There has been little doingby any class as a class this term. The Juniorshave been there with their share. Lately Mr.Clarke, a Junior, has been chosen captain of,the varsity basket ball team. He gives goodpromise of leading the skilled players success-fully.On Monday of last week the Juniors hadtheir official meeting and elected the officersfor this term. Mr. Fred Jackson was givenplace as the head of the class. Miss RubyCurry was elected to the office of vice president. Edith Provines received the majorityfor the secretaryship and AATilliam Clouser waselected treasurer for the coming term.Since the president was given the power toappoint officers when necessary, none of theminor offices were filled. There will be fewclass meetings this term. Everything notmentioned here is just ordinary with theJuniors.COLLEGE COURSE NOTES.AAe promised that we would in the lastcommencement number of The Advance. Andnow we can safely say that our promise hasbeen carried out. The promise we made inthat said number of The Advance was thatthe College Course would certainly make people sit up and take notice in the next schoolyear, especially along the line of athletics. TheSeniors took notice to this advice, took somuch notice indeed that we came out second inthe Cider Meet. Then how chesty they did become. Theywere in their glory and their favorite pastimewas to hunt up College Course students andtalk about first one thing and then anotheruntil inevitably the conversation would turnto athletics. Then the Senior would casuallyask the College Course student if he had attended the Cider Meet, and the College Coursestudent would bethink himself of another urgent engagement that he had almost forgottenand would hasten away. But even if we did land only second place, every one will admit that it was a decided improvement over the last school year. Then, in the due course of time, the basketball season rolled around and with it came theinter-class games. On the first evening the College Course defeated the Juniors, and—but w7hy go into suchlong, tedious detail? The last evening*was theimportant one. Two decisive games were tobe played, one for first place and one for lastplace. We will only take into brief consideration the former. It was between the College Course and theSeniors. Class spirit ran high on both sides. It seemed as if the Seniors, in their hilariousevening at home with the cider, had lost thespectacles with which they had formerly takenso much notice of the College Course. Theydidnt find these said spectacles until late inthe second half. That was certainly somegame. If you want to see the score again andrest your eyes, look over in the Athletic Department of this paper, (or ask any studenton the College Course).AVe will say this much for the Seniors, theyare good losers, and there is no other class fromwhom we would rather have won, especiallysince they won the Cider Meet.AVith the opening of the winter term theCollege Course again opened its activities byelecting new officers. On Thursday afternoon, January 9, at 3:30,the following officers were elected:President—Mr. Hubert Sakel.Vice President—Miss AVinifred Ray.Secretary—Miss Zelpha Burket. |
