THE NORMAL ADVANCE185CICERONIAN.Three more alumni of the school, Messrs.Oberholtzer, Cullins, and Cahal, were electedto associate membership last month.Mr. and Mrs. Brumfiel gave an informalparty for the society and the Kappa girls attheir home, in North Sixth Street, Saturdayevening, February 20. The Kappas had theirchafing dishes and almost everyone tried hishand at making candy.Mr. Stirwalt and sisters entertained the society and their friends at euchre, Saturdayevening, February 27. Those present were:Prof, and Mrs. Lardner, Mr. and Mrs. Brumfiel, Misses Kelso, Reiley, Doerschuck, Stubbs,Wright, Weills, Moody, Houghton, Lahey,Rogers, Kitterman, Lamb, Schockel, Jeanneand Frances Guffigan Prof. Baxter Messrs.James, Cain, Lanning, Schorling, Winkler,Schoeppel, Wood, Hillis, Smith, Thompson,Schockel, and Campbell. Miss Schockel wonthe prize for ladies high score. Mr. Wood wasawarded the prize for gentlemens high scoreand also the lone-hand prize.DAEDALIAN.The Daedalian Literary Society has enjoyeda very pleasant as well as profitable termswork, and looks forward to the coming springterm with great expectations. At a regularmeeting held in the literary room, Saturdaymorning, March 6, officers for the spring termwere elected. The following were chosen:President, William F. Kamman Vice-President, L. C. Campbell Secretary, CharlesLimp Treasurer, Loris Julian Parliamentarian, H. H. Stodghill Chaplain, Guy Bogart Sergeant-at-Arms, Lotus Brennen.The Daedalians will debate the Forum,April 16 upon the question, Resolved, ThatUnited States Senators should be elected by adirect vote of the people.The Society devotes the larger part of itstime to the study of questions of economical,social, political, and educational interest, butduring each term two or three programs aregiven to debating. A prominent feature of thework is that period of each meeting devoted topractical work in Parliamentary drill.Arrangements have been made for an end-term banquet to be given for the members ofthe society and their friends at the city Y. M.C. A., Thursday evening, March 25.FORUM.We realize that harmony and strength is thesupport of all societies and this truth is manifesting itself in the fact that all the membersare doing what they can to make the Societystand for something.Arrangements were made for two social functions to be given before the close of the winterterm, one of which was a dance, Saturday evening, March 6, 1909.Y. M. and Y. W. C. A.Y. M. C. A.Interest in Bible Study is gradually growing. Forty members are now enrolled in theclasses. The regular weekly meeting is heldon Tuesday, at 3 :30 p. m., in the AssociationRoom. The attendance at these meetings isgood and a great interest is shown in the topics discussed.At the meeting, on March 2, the followingofficers were elected to serve for one year: W.H. Cain, President Edgar Webb, Vice-President Jesse A. Wood, Treasurer Lee Troth,Corresponding Secretary, and H. C. Milhol-land, Secretary.A list of rooms for boys is now being madefor use at the beginning of the spring term.Students and patrons of the school who knowof rooms to be rented to men will please givethe street number to the General Secretary. |
