Spindler.The Freshman class held their first regularmeeting on the evening of January 16, in themusic room. Keeney.Vice President—Melvin J. Snyder.Secretary—Alice Wright.Treasurer—Osmund Spear.Motie Tucker and Mr. Spencer were re-electedrespectively yell master and athletic captain.Emil Mongol was appointed assistant yell master.The program committee consists of Melvin J.Snyder, Blanche Wolverton and Maude Harris.The meeting throughout was harmonious and anexcellent class spirit was manifested, so that theSENIOR CLASS.On Friday evening, January 9th, a meeting ofthe Seniors was held in the literary room for thepurpose of electing officers for the winter term.Mr. Mayfield, the retiring president, conductedthe nominations, which resulted in:President—Francis Miles.Vice President:—W. S. Cushing.Secretary—Miss Dessie Kitch.Treasurer—L. K. Parr.Sergeant at Arms—A. T. Mayfield.Mr. Mayfield gave a fine talk, urging that theclass be loyal to one another, and that at the classday exercises it would only be the united effortsthat would make the undertaking a success.Mr. Miles, the new president, took the chairand made a good speech showing that he had theinterest of the class truly at heart.Miss Kitch graciously accepted her office with aneat little speech of thanks.The question of the class day exercises was nextvoted upon. Some of the members advocated aclass play, and others wished to have either a largestatue to be placed in the library with appropriateunveiling ceremonies, or to bring a noted lecturerfor the class day.The vote resulted in a large majority for a classplay.Exchanges.The November number of The Phoenix contains an excellent article on Health is Wealthby Niles P. Klowgard. It emphasizes ■ the factthat good health is essential to the success of anindividual and a nation. History tells us thatpeople with the best health were the bearers ofcivilization they always came to the front.The mode of life in the modern city is not suchthat it brings health and strength to its people.They are living too fast and many follow occupations that shorten their lives.
