We hope, however, to makeeach issue better and of greater value. This meansmore effort on our part and entire support of allinterested in the Success of The Advance. The Advance staff by no means feels that it isinfallible, nor does it wish to avoid adverse criticism. It is only by seeing its mistakes that thestaff will be able to make its work better. Hence, the staff is always open to criticism from thefriends of The Advance. This is said expresslyfor the purpose of encouraging criticism from bothstudents and faculty, in order that The Advancemay better reflect the spirit of the school. With the appearance of this number vacation isin sight. The attention of the students is turningfrom the class-room to the many pleasures ofhome. This is a time of rest and no doubt all willavail themselves of the opportunity. The Advance wishes you a Merry Christmas and a pleasant vacation. In this connection we take the liberty to ask,has it occurred to you that this is an excellent timeto make a stand for yo
ur institution? No betteropportunity is afforded than when you are enjoying your vacation, to remember yolur institutionand interest the friends of education. in it. Ourschool is growing to be one of the strongest of itskind in the United States. The influence of itsstudents, rightly used in their respective parts ofthe state, will aid in increasing this growth. The biennial report of the Board of Trusteesshows that the Normal is filling its purpose to theutmost satisfaction. During the past two yearsall the counties of the state have been representedexcept one and in many counties a large percent ofthe teachers have been Normal students. Thetraining school with the addition of the ruraltraining school makes the professional departmenta model of proficiency. The students are beginning to take the coiursemore by years than formerly, when the termseemed to be the unit of student residence. Thisenables the work to be more thorough and organized for the student as well as the institution. TheNormal has a bright future before it and we hopeto see it become the best professional school of thecountry in equipment as well as in the class ofstudents which it graduates.
