S., of Indianapolis, and weredefeated by a score of 29 to 0, which was due tothe inexperience of the Normal boys and the well-developed team of the Manual. The Normal boysshowed great improvement over their previousgame. The Manual was unable to go through theNormal line and most of the gains were made byend runs. The Manual Training High School hasan excellently trained team. Their interferencewas superb and it was a pleasure as well as valuable experience to our men to play the game, evenif we suffered defeat. The line-up was as follows:State Normal. Morgan and Bean.Linemen—Hawkins and Ehoads.THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.The Association held its first meeting for theyear early in the term. Prof. W. P. Morgan, president of last yeai, called the meeting to order, andlast years management reported a very successfulyear, with a surplus of $214.15 in the treasury asa working basis to begin with this season.The Association elected the following officers:Prof. F. E. Higgins, President.Guy C. Sipple, Vice-President.Honore Parks, Secretary.Wni- S. Cushing, Treasurer.Joe H. Stahl, Custodian.Prof, W. P. Morgan and Ernest Lamson, Finance Committee. *A committee was appointed to nominate basketball managers and at a later meeting Forest Cunningham was elected manager for the ladies teamand Alfred Henry for the mens team. A team.will be organized among the ladies to represent theschool and play a series of games. This team willhereafter be under the management of the Association.The entertainment committee, composed of alady and gentleman from each class, has been appointed, and promises something new and novel inthe way of entertainments and these should be liberally patronized. A manager and coach for thetrack team will be elected soon to train the teamfor the field meets next spring. Quite a numberof new athletes have entered and when the members of previous teams come back we will have material to make an excellent showing on the track.The Association is putting forth every effort toencourage a clean athletic spirit, which, will addmaterially to the life and spirit of the school.The Athletic Association at a recent meeting appointed a committee to place a contest for a school-song. The committee met and discussed, tin:■scheme. Later a full report will be given, but nowwe can but state that the contest is open to anyperson who has been connected with the NormalSchool for at least one year, the contest to be openfor three months, and a prize of $15 awarded theperson submitting words appropriate for the song.Further information can be obtained from /mymember of the committee, which consists of thefollowing people: |
