Apple Butter or For Sale Apple Butter and Pumpkins

Description: This painting depicts a farm in the fall that is selling pumpkins and apple butter. There are three buildings: the farmhouse, a small barn, and the edge of a larger barn. On the left edge of the painting, the corner of a barn can be seen. Two carts sit in front of that corner, one black with apples in the back and being pulled by a brown horse. The other cart is green and is also holding barrels of apples. The two trees between the corner of the large red barn and the smaller red barn are full of apples. A figure on a ladder is picking the apples from these trees. The smaller barn has brown roofing and is surrounded by apple trees and a tree with yellow leaves. A white windmill is in front of the tree with yellow leaves and soars above the barns and house. The farmhouse is white with brown roofing. It has three visible windows, a front porch, and a flower bed on the side that is fully visible. The flowers climb the side of the farmhouse in various shades of pink with green leaves. The flower bed has pink, red, and purple flowers with a line of white rocks separating the flowers from the yard. Two groups of children sit on either end of the flower bed. Two boys in all black sit on the left edge while two girls in purple and blue sit on the right side. There is a field of flowers from along the bottom right edge of the painting in various colors, changing color in each row. Next to the field, there are seven buckets of finished apple butter. A woman sits next to the buckets cooking more apple butter in the lane leading to the farm. She is dressed in a blue dress with a black coat and head covering. A white stool is supporting her as she sits with a label in the kettle of butter. A man and dog stand watching in the lane both in mostly black coloring. There is a pile of orange pumpkins, white gourds, and green gourds at the end of the lane. A sign sits next to the pile stating For Sale Apple Butter and Pumpkins in black. This is also the title of the painting. The date is in the bottom left corner in black with the copyright symbol. Schrocks signature is in the bottom right corner in black.
