Postcard of Bethany Park, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1915

Description: Structures next to a lake at Bethany Park, incorrectly labeled as Indianapolis. In the 1880s, the Disciples of Christ Church organized the Christian retreat southwest of Brooklyn, Indiana and dug this man-made lake named Lake Jewel. A similar view identifies the buildings shown as the Christian Womens Board of Missions (CWBM) to the left and the Young Peoples Society of Christian Endeavor (YPSCE) to the right. They overlooked a lagoon south of Lake Jewel nicknamed Goldfish Lake.
