Description: |
Postcard featuring an advertisement for the Stubbins Hotel in Indianapolis, at the corner of Georgia and Illinois Streets, just north of Union Station. The four-story Second Emipire building features man mansard elements, including the roof, with the bottom floor housing retail and the upper floors the guest rooms. In operation from the 1890s through the late 1940s, the hotel was frequently in the papers throughout its 50-year history for arrests of gambling, prostitution, and, during prohibition, serving alcohol. This corner became part of the Circle Centre Mall complex in the 1990s and the location of the Harry and Izzys restaurant in 2007. |
