Lilly Hall and Clowes Memorial Hall

Description: Cars and a van are parked along Clarendon Road on the west side of Lilly Hall while Clowes Hall is visible in the background. When Lilly Hall opened in September 1962, the building featured a central courtyard with an outdoor stage, 40 individual practice rooms, 10 classrooms, 4 dance studios, 6 organ practice rooms, 3 group rehearsal rooms, 30 studio-offices, and a large rehearsal hall, among other features. At the time of its opening in 1963, Clowes Memorial Hall, had 2,200 seats among three tiers of boxes and terraces. The back of the photograph is stamped with the name David W. Carfolite (Class of 1976). According to the 1976 Drift, Butler Universitys yearbook, Carfolite was the photo editor for The Butler Collegian and worked on The Drift (p. 187).
