Northwest corner of Jordan Hall

Description: This photograph shows the northwest corner of Jordan Hall in 1929, and although classes started on September 17, 1928, it appears that work on the exterior of the building is still in progress. An article in the September 19, 1928, issue of The Butler Collegian titled New Building to Meet Test of All Time states that One dominating feature of the new school is the fact that all the classes, offices and even laboratories are located in the one building. Fifty-four class rooms, the administration offices, the college of liberal arts and religion, a library, a science hall, the laboratories, departments of domestic science and art, and a botanical conservatory consisting of herbarium and greenhouse, are all housed within Jordan Hall-a feature indeed (p. 1). Today, the doorway on the right side of the photograph is covered by the skywalk that connects Jordan Hall to Gallahue Hall.
