People walk onto a snowy Butler Bowl football field while spectators enter the stadium

Description: People are walking onto a snowy Butler Bowl (later renamed the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl) football field while spectators file into the stadium. Being an outdoor stadium, there is also snow in the stands and just to the right of the tunnel entrance, two people are walking under a rope barrier. Although the date of this specific photograph is unknown, approximately 20,000 people were in attendance when the Butler Bowl was officially dedicated at the November 10, 1928, Butler University versus the University of Illinois football game. Leading up to the game, pep sessions, parades, and banquets were aplenty and on the day of the game, both of the Universities Marching Bands performed, as did a band from Fort Harrison. The field was muddy due to steady rain earlier in the day, making play difficult. Unfortunately, Illinois won the game with a final score of 14-0.
