Hetraveled to Berkeley College and Rose-Hulman in California to participate intheir engineering programs for HighSchool students. They taketrips there just about everyother summer, but thissummer was different.Instead of just being afamily trip, sophomore TateRaake and his family had theopportunity to experienceBrazil as well. During thetrip, they played soccer onthe famous Copacabanabeach in the city of Rio, didwaterfall repelling inPirenopolis, watched a Brazilworld cup soccer game, andtraveled around the countryseeing friends and family.My favorite part wastraveling around and gettingto see all my friends andfamily. senior AmandaBurrell said.While the Burrells wereno stranger to the country andthe Portuguese language, theRaake family was not asfamiliar. Though Tates familywas not as skilled with thecommunication, they werefortunate to go at a time wherethere were people to help.It was nice to have theBurrells there to help, but itwasnt quite as what it wouldbe normally because we did gofor the World Cup. Soeveryone, even the civilians,were ready to help people out.Raake said.This trip meant a lot toTate because traveling issomething he wants to pursuein the future.It meant a lot to mebecause I want to travel when Iget out of high school. Its coolto see what else is out there,Raake said.
