Withtropical storms promising up to 6inches of rain, many locals wereleft to wonder if the Fourth StreetFestival of the Arts and Craftswould still occur. While weatherprevented the Bloomington SouthOrchestra and other musicalgroups from making theirappearances, the festival continuedas planned on September 1 and 2,to the relief of Bloomington Southstudents and residents alike.Among those relieved wasjunior Carissa Knox, a FourthStreet Festival veteran. Accordingto Knox, festival attendees andartists were determined to keep theweather from dampening spirits.People [were] really trying tomake the best of the rainyweather, she said. The rain made for a moredismal atmosphere, but the festivalwas very similar to those of yearspast. It was the same great art, justwith less enthusiasm, said seniorMargaret Holahan, who alsoattended the festival.Favorable turnout at thefestival proved that the communityscommitment to the arts and craftscould withstand a few inches ofrain. As Knox said, Its greatbecause the entire communitycomes together to celebrate art.-AUSTIN REILLYWALK THElineAt Bryan Park on August 31, Bloomington Southstudents attempted to highline, an activity similar totightrope walking.
