Description: luckyCLASS OF2013At Bloomington South, the 13 seniors became betterplayers and leaders as they capped off a memorableseason.It was a tough and emotional yearfor the 13 seniors on theBloomington South girls soccer team.Finishing with a 10-5-1 record, it wascertainly an unforgettable one.The girls soccer teams strengthrested with the senior class.However, with 13 seniors on theteam, the competition could getintense. The seniors found it hard tohave only 1 1 people on the field atonce with many developingunderclassmen. Between us seniorsthere isnt much competition becauseI have grown up with many of thesegirls and I find it more fun thananything else, said senior SusannaHerrmann.I think because were deep inseveral different positions it pushesus to work harder, added seniorRose Guardino.Senior tri-captains Herrmann,and Shelby Stebbins and ClaireGlomm certainly possessedleadership role on the team. Its a lotof responsibility but I enjoy it because Ilike to inspire my teammates and Ihave a lot of passion for this game,Stebbins explained.It was a lot tougher than Ithought it would be. Herrmann said,You dont worry about just yourselfanymore you have to worry about thewhole team.Following their success, manyseniors considered committing to playsoccer at the collegiate level despitethe greater challenge of balancingacademics and athletics. Glomm, whocommitted to play soccer at CalvinCollege for the 2013-2014 schoolyear looked forward to the change ofpace, I definitely think it will be a lotmore difficult to play at the collegiatelevel, but I think that it will be a reallywonderful, rewarding experience.super sweeThe Bloomington South boys soccer teamwon sectionals for the first time in 16 yearsThree players reflect on the long-awaitedvictory.It was a great feeling to win it my senioryear because it hadnt been done in 1 6years.— sen/or Kyle CarpenterWinning sectionals was long overdue.
