Thatshowed our spirit as a team,senior Allison Horn said.Senior co-captains MaggieFritz and Vanessa Higgins ledthe team by keeping spirits upand showing their love for thegame.I always tried to encouragethe team to give 100 percenteffort. I enjoyed being acaptain because I was able tobe a positive role model,Higgins said.The girls opened theirseason against local rivalEdgewood. Many players hadEdgewoods coach, JeffCarmichael, as a club coach.The team wanted to win thismatch to set the tone for therest of the season.This game set up the restof the season for us.Edgewood beat us last year,and we really wanted to win.We came out and got the jobdone, sophomore AshleyFarrell said.Before the regular seasonfinale against BloomingtonNorth, the team had psychesisters, where they would getone another a secret gift.Psyche sisters helped meso much. It was neat to seewhat kind of candy or presentsyou got from your psyche sister... It put me in the rightmindset to play the game,senior Emily Jennings said.The team would attend otherschool sports as a group andshow their support and schoolspirit.We like to have fans comeout and support us, and wethought if we went out andsupported the football andsoccer teams, they would comeand support us as well, seniorMaggie Fritz said.Columbus Norths coach,Greg Morris, left South tocoach at C.N. last season. Theteam felt betrayed by theirformer coach and wanted tocome out and show him whathe left. The team won thematch in three games.We really wanted to comeout and beat them. We wantedto show Greg that we couldbeat him, and they are a verygood team.
