Description: While many people stayed within thecountry or even Bloomington over fall break,sophomore Zoe Berensztein and her familyboarded a plane at six oclock in the morningand embarked on an eight day adventure inPeru. Berensztein and her family had notoriginally planned on going. Berensztein saidthe plans changed when they realized the tripcoincided with the week-long break.While there, Berensztein was able to be apart of many new cultural experiences: visitingthe Sacred Valley, learning about the Incas,eating traditional food such as alpaca, andgoing to Machu Picchu.Although Berensztein enjoyed all of theseactivities, she most enjoyed visiting SacredValley. She and her family were taught how tomake traditional peruvian garments. Theyshowed us the Alpaca yarn, how they dyed it,and how they sewed it all together,Berensztein said. El Parque Del Amor, meaningpark of love, was another one of her favoritespots. There were really pretty mosaic benchesand a nice view of the ocean, Berensztein said.Despite the fact that there were thousands ofmosquitoes on the top of Machu Picchu,Berensztein said she will remember visitingMachu Picchu forever. She and her family madethe trek to the top of Machu Picchu, one of theWonders of the World, and spent time theretaking in the sights and enjoying the culture.Berensztein and her family hail from Argentina,and a fall break trip back to South Americaconnected her to her roots.
