Description: Tennis team places third in stateThe Bloomington South varsity tennis team had high expectations goinginto the 1974 fall season; and theypassed those expectations with an11-0 regular season record, first placein both sectional and regional, and athird-place finish in the state.They were ranked throughout theseason, steadily improving their position in the polls as each week passed.Eight out of 11 regular season op-vtrAX*-*ponents were shut out by the powerful Panthers. In the state match Southnarrowly lost to eventual championSouth Bend Adams, 3-2. They tookthird place by defeating Muncie South-side 3-2 in the afternoon.Brian Willett, one part of the number one doubles team, received theIHSAA mental attitude award at thestate meet for his combination ofathletic and classroom abilities.No. 1 singles player Ron Remakended up 13-3 over the entire year,including tournaments. No. 2 singlesman Jeff Dorson went 14-2, and No.3 singles junior Zeke Martin had anunblemished 15-0 record.
