Secondyear coach StephanieLightvoet said of the team,We had a lot of closematches that I believe wecould have pulled out, but Iwas very proud of thegirls.Brenna Bodnar at #1 singles finished her season 10-6, Erin McGarvey at #2 finished 13-2, and Katie Watson at #3 finished 11-3.Bodnar, who was awarded B-man, commented, Atrip to the state finals thepast two years was a hardact to follow, but this yearthe emphasis seemed tobe more on improvementrather than winning.McGarvey, who wasteam captain, said, A keymatch was North Central. Itwas cancelled, which Ithink hurt us, because I feelit would give our team anidea of stiff competition. Itruly enjoyed this tennisseason. The reserve andvarsity got along betterthan any team Ive playedon, there was a lot of talenton the team, and I think weput it to good use.The team ended theirplay in the final match ofthe sectionals, to 4thranked Columbus North.Contact is the key, as MeganClendening serves during amatch against crosstown rivalBloomington North.A smile of success is shown by ErinMcGarvey.
