Description: Victory at lastf t ^*> etting to State was*& our goal at the beginning of the year. Everybody on the team contributed in one way or anotherthis year. Our confidencein each other was the mostimportant aspect of theteam, says Damon Brown,member of the team thataccomplished the goal ofreaching the State finals.The team ended the season with a winning recordof 17 wins, and 8 losses including a fourth place finish in the state. One of themany highlights of the yearwas the fact that the teamwon the SCC (South Central Conference.) This wasthe first time in 14 yearsthat South had won theSCC. They had to beat outColumbus North, who hadheld the record. We hadgood experience with fiveof the seven players beingseniors. Captain AndrewBonser, our number one singles player (also votedMVP by the team, and athlete of the season by97WBWB and CFC) and Ryan Mull were the other twoplayers. We improved during the whole year. Wehad a very good season,and Im very proud of theboys, comments first yearcoach, Dr. Ray, whocoached the Panthers to avery productive, and successful 1988 season.Boys Tennis.
