Description: ^^^^^^™Many playboth soccerand hockeyAlthough hockey and soccer were notschool-fund-supported sports, there weretwo soccer teams and one hockey teammade up of high school students from thearea.The Bloomington Blades hockey teamparticipated in tournaments and meetsboth in and out of the state. Ten individuals from South were on the 17-member squad. Other team members attended BHS North and Edgewood.The Blades were under the leadershipof first-year coach Mike Hoffman. Theyfinished fifth in their league for the 1983-84 season and fourth in the state.Bloomington also sported two soccerteams, made up of students from bothNorth and South.The Pampas, coached by JorgeOclander, participated in tournaments inthe area and around the country. In thefall of 83, they journeyed to an international competition in Virginia Beach, Va.The other soccer team, the Cosmos,spent the fall in area competitions and thespring in Midwestern invitationals.
