Description: ship Skull, my late means of travel. The jolly crew wassinging, Were All Jolly Good Fellows. I went to sleepbemoaning my fate.Upon awakening, I was startled by a voice which wasstrangely familiar to me, saying:We will move your couch over tomorrow. One hundredpairs of eyes were staring at me. I was very confused and myhead was whirling as on a pivot, when the bell rang. I was inthe Assembly Room. Arising from my seat I saw near me thewell known Mr. Noyer and seeing a panorama of air ships, boldpirates, diamonds and stars, I staggered on to my next recitation.-George Henley, 09.The Girl with the Brown VeilI.THE bell rang, and the halls, which had been deserted amoment before, were crowded with boys and girls. Itwas the end of the fourth hour and everyone wasanxious to get home, for a cold winter rain was falling, whichmade it very disagreeable out of doors. Harold Wilson hadbeen detained a few minutes in the physics laboratory, so whenhe came running down the stairs, the halls were again practicallydeserted. As he was hurrying through the lower hall he raninto a girl.O pardon me, he begged, but these halls are so abom-inably dark.Well, I should say they are, answered the girl. Its nowonder I didnt see Louise. Dear, dear, what on earth shall Ido?Is there anything I can do for you? Harold inquired.Thank you, but I am afraid not. I stopped to speak toone of the girls and I guess Louise went off without me. Ithought she told me to wait at the door but I have not seen her.She has my umbrella and besides I dont know one street fromthe other here.I should be glad to share my umbrella and to take youwherever you wish to go, said Harold.Oh, I can never express my thanks. We try for basket, ball championship tonight, and I just must make that four tentrain or I wont get home in time, she said as she looked at herwatch. Well I declare, if my watch hasnt stopped, but thereis a clock by the door. I saw it as I was waiting. She hurried down the hall to the clock and Harold followed,Nearly four, she cried when she reached it. Oh my,and those sloppy- streets, and she looked angrily out at the rain. Oh, there comes Louise, and she rushed out, letting the doorsbang behind her. When Harold got outside of the door she was hurryingdown the street with Louise Millican. It was then that heobtained his first view of the girl, which was only a glimpse. She was dressed in a stylish brown suit and a large brown veilwas tied over her hat.Its no wonder I couldnt tell what she looked like in the41
