B.H.S. music students foundthey could profit through this organization with ardentstudy and devotion to their particular instrument.Students were rewarded in this way: Four membersof the orchestra received an honor in the fall when theywere selected to participate in the All State Orchestrain Indianapolis during the State Teachers Associationmeetings. Those chosen and making the trip were JohnThomas, Ann Souders, DeeAnn Arthur, and BeverlyStillions.Christmas season found the instrumental group quiteoccupied. They presented a Christmas Concert at theOdd Fellows Hall for that organizations ChristmasParty. Also presented was a concert in the high schoolauditorium. During the second semester two concertswere presented in May, the Baccalaureate service atwhich the B.H.S. orchestra combined with the U.H.S.orchestra and performed the processional and recessionalmarches plus a special number in the I.U. Auditorium.Officers for the organization in the school year 1957-58 were Ronald Hacker, president; Mary Ann Bales,vice-president; Ann Souders, secretary; Kent Massey,treasurer.
