Description: The purpose of the Latin Club is to enrich the classroom studyof Latin by presenting programs consisting of plays, movies,and short talks at the regular monthly meetings. Membershipin Latin Club was open only to those students who weretaking or had taken one or more semesters of Latin. TheRoman Saturnalia, held during the holiday season, was highlighted by a lively slave auction. All first year students weresold to the highest bidders and had to live in servitude fora week. Togas, sandals, jewelry, and stolas were donned byall members who attended the oustanding event of the year,the Roman banquet. First-year Latin students served deliciousRoman food, ovo ad mala, from eggs to apples, to the groupwhich was ruled over by a king and queen chosen by all firstyear Latin students. The Latin Club, sponsored by Mrs. RubyReavis, is a member of both the Indiana and National JuniorClassical League.
