Club was organized in1946 at B.H.S. and originally went under thename of Future Retailers. In 1948 the name ofthe club was changed to conform with other Distributive Education Clubs throughout the state.In providing opportunities for high schoolstudents to find jobs in the Bloomington business life, the D. E. Club gives these students abusiness and social life outside of the highschool. This social life is culminated everyspring when the D. E. Club has its annual employer-employee Appreciation Banquet. All ofthe employers of the students are invited to thisbanquet which takes place in April. Anothermain project of the year was a tour of BlocksDepartment Store the early part of November.David Dale, president; Freddie Burks, vice-president; Patty Myers, Secretary; and JoanIsom, treasurer; were the guiding forces of theclub for the year. Mr. V. W. Babb is the clubssponsor.N, S. H. S,Nothing is impossible! This is a familiarphrase to scientists, and the Bloomington HighSchool scientists are no exception. These members of the National Scientific Honor Societytackle many projects during the year. Theseprojects are all tied together by one commonbond: they are all money-making projects tofinance a club trip in the spring. Last year theclub journeyed to Mammoth Cave. The projectsare: selling cider at the football games, picklesat the basketball games, and cokes at the aftergame dances.In accordance with the club subject for theyear, which is geology, the members make reports at each club meeting concerning differentphases of geology. Affiliated with the JuniorAcademy of Science on a state-wide basis, thisclub yearly has an exhibit at the State ScienceFair, which was held at Purdue this year.Officers were Tom Minnick, president; DavidMedaris, vice-president; Sandy Sylvester, secretary; Joe Horstman, treasurer; and Jane Harrell,historian.
