Junior Glee ClubThe purpose of the Junior Glee Club is to givejunior high students an opportunity to receiveexperience and training in group singing. Thisgroup is composed entirely of seventh and eighthgrade students. Experience which students gainin Glee Club often encourages them to continuetheir study of music in high school. This year,due to the fact that no tryouts were held, thegroup was unusually large. Since this is a clubinstead of a class they met only once a week.At these club meetings they always sang theirclub song.This year during the second semester, as themain project of the Junior Glee Club, they presented an operetta. A contest was held to seewho could sell the most tickets. Tryouts wereheld to see who would receive the parts. Nearlyeveryone in the club participated in the operetta. During the year they also had a party forthe members and their guests. On December 16,during the Christmas season, the music department presented a program entitled I HearAmerica Singing. In this program the JuniorGlee Club sang Adeste Fideles, Gloria inExcelsis Deo, Away In A Manger, Joy ToThe World, Good King Wenceslas, and GodRest You Merry, Gentlemen. After the programa party was held in the gym for the participantsin the program and their guests.The officers of the Junior Glee Club this yearwere Donna Burroughs, president; Sally Rugg,secretary; Elizabeth Bucher, Optimist reporter;and the three accompanists were BarbaraBadertscher, Sandra Hewitt, and Sandra Grubb.JUNIOR GLEE CLUBRow one — John Stillions,Stanley Garrison, SharonHankins, Dave Frye,Danny Weddle.
