Although primarily a class, the orchestra elects officers andhas several social parties.Participation in the orchestra gives students a chance to explore music inmany different phases. Not only are the works of the masters played from the score,but a day is taken out for listening to recordings by famous orchestras.The orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Carl Frye, participates with the bandin a winter and a spring concert. Music played between the acts of the schoolsthree-act dramatic productions is also furnished by this group.On Honor Day several students received second class musician, first classmusician, and master musician awards. These honors were won by participation inensembles and solos at the many pop concerts which were held during the year.The Arian Award was given to the most outstanding senior in the orchestra.The officers for the year were Charles Dyer, president; Jim Buress, vice president; Jane Boxman, secretary; and June Graves, treasurer.Page 44This page sponsored by Mintons Body Shop ^ I 14 W.
