To intereststudents in teaching, to discover many aspects ofteaching, and to help the student decide what phaseof teaching interested him were the main purposesof the F. T. A.Panel discussions helped members realize the goodand bad of their chosen profession. Students fromIndiana University spoke to the club members.Activities included a Christmas party, a springbanquet for senior members, and a tea for the faculty.Officers for the club were Deanna Dixon, president;Patty Chestnut, vice-president; Loretta Sparks, secretary; and Onva Boshears, treasurer. The club sponsor was Miss Merle Gilstrap.The FUTURE NURSES CLUB gave students interested in medicine a chance to find out what acareer in nursing requires and what opportunities areoffered in the field of medicine. Membership wasprimarily open to girls, but any boy could join ifhe was interested in nursing.Speakers from the local Public Health Departmentand the Indiana University Dental Clinic spoke tothe girls at some of their club meetings.The club officers elected for the year were JoycePay ton, president; Pauline Wiles, vice-president;Donna Bruner, secretary-treasurer; and MarthaBrown, corresponding secretary.
