Bob Kirk,Norman Mitchell.With the purpose to create, maintain, and extend throughout theschool and community high standards of Christian character, the Bloomington High School branch of the Hi-Y has grown from an insignificant organization in 1919 into one of the schools most prominent clubs in 1938.The Hi-Y Federation in 1938 is composed of three individual clubs towhich a total of 94 members now belong. The Torch Club for the juniorhigh school, under the sponsorship of Mr. Hunter, has a roll of 18. Mr.Stubbs has again sponsored the Freshman-Sophomore group of 37 memberswhile the Junior-Senior branch has a membership of 39 and has been underthe guiding hands of Mr. Harmon and Mr. McAdams. The entire Federations under the control of the faculty advisory council.Mr. Lorin Ashbaucher, Federation sponsor, has been the guiding lightin directing the achievements of the organization for the past ten years.Weekly meetings at which prominent persons are featured as speakers,pot luck suppers, socials, basketball parties, and other similar activities makeup the yearly programs of the three groups.The Federation, meeting monthly, has staged several delightful socialaffairs during the year. A Chinese Chop Suey supper with real Chinesecooks serving the meal, and an Oyster Supper, at which Mr. B. R. Jones fromthe University Y. M. C. A. was the guest speaker, were chief among these.The Hi-Y also co-operated with the Blue Triangle in the sponsorship of thePre-Thanksgiving, Pre-Christmas and Pre-Easter services.Page sixty-five |
