Description: |
Dumont begins by chastising Badollet for not writing to him in more than 2 months. He then goes on to talk about the trip to St. Petersburg from Geneva, which went well aside from his mother’s seasickness, but his sister’s husband had a stroke not two weeks after they had arrived. Furthermore, his congregation in Russia is small, no more than 40 or 50, and he sees corruption on a daily basis—though some of the nearby landowners are decent, and he still finds St. Petersburg magnificent. |
