The Charles Mayer & Company Building was located at 29 West Washington Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. Established in 1840 by Charles Mayer, the company’s building on Washington Street eventually expanded into the five-story building depicted in the photograph. Charles Mayer & Co. was a retailer that specialized in unique gifts and homewares. In 1954, the company sold its inventory to L.S. Ayres and the building was later demolished in 1959. |
