Interview with James Girard Vorgang

Description: Girard Vorgang was one of the young men who worked the boats during the 1937 flood. He and his friend rowed supplies into Jeffersonville refugee housing and rowed people out to high ground. This is his account of the 1937 flood. His wife, Ruth Susan Nagel Vorgang, was also interviewed for this project. For most of their lives, both James Girard Vorgang and his wife went by their second names. The thumbnail image was taken from his senior yearbook.
