Description: |
Marvin lives with his wife in regular quarters. He says that he forgets about writing to Jesse. He is at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He attended a basic radar mechanics course in Biloxi, Mississippi. He took a Ground Controlled Approach mechanics and GCA repairman courses. He feels there is a shortage of personnel at his job. Men are moved in and out constantly. The civilian personnel have been increased three times as large as the GI personnel. It has gotten so crowded that it takes him a half hour to get to work which is 1.5 miles away. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards. |
