Korean War Letter from Marvin R. Bottorff to Jesse G. Dorsey 23 Oct 1951

Description: Marvin is back in the Air Force Electronic Center school. He is studying a new Ground Controlled Approach system. He describes how the new system works. He is having a hard time with his class because there was very little review of fundamentals. The class is graded on a curve and he is now at the bottom of the class. His sleeping conditions are crowded and it is compulsory to give part of his pay to some cause every week. There was an investigation by Senator Hunt about illegal gambling and whiskey businesses in the state that required testimony from General Powell who commands the base. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards.
