Description: |
During the 1880s, every adult wore a hat when going out of the house; even children wore them for social occasions. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis founder and first president Mary Stewart Carey wore this hat long before she thought about starting a museum for kids. Mrs. Carey probably used this hat when she traveled because the hat folds in on itself when the wearer pulls up on the ring at the top! |
